\"One to the Wolves \"

Question: I can\'t quit thinking about Kait and your family has continued to go through for all these years.I\'ve read both books & I want to do something, anything but what can I do? I pray that you find justice. There are so many scenarios. I hope Betty Muench was right and that it will come out. I will continue to post about Kait. God Bless You!\r\nCharlotte

Reply: The action goes on. The Cold Case Investigative Research Institute is holding a "Coffee & Clues" event at Argosy University on Hammond Drive in Atlanta, Georgia, at 6 PM June 2. The public is invited. It's a fund raiser to help subsidize having 5 investigative experts go to Albuquerque in July to launch their own case investigation, starting at the crime scene. For any size donation, (even a dollar) those attending will get the case overview and access to a working meeting with a chance to offer their own input, tips, theories, etc. The experts will include a prosecutor, a defense attorney, a criminal profiler, a forensic & crime scene expert, and--via Skype--our own P.I. in Albuquerque.

Who killed my Daughter

Question: Excellent book

You (mother and author) could have been a PI too! Good detective work!

Love the book

Reply: Thank you for the kind words. I think most mothers in my situation become P.I.s Nobody could be more dedicated to finding out every detail of our child's death than the mother who loved the victim.

unfair

Question: I recently read who killed my daughter and I cant wait to read your next book and I was deeply saddened by your story. I think that it was very unfair that the police weren't doing anything about your case. I understand that there are many murder cases and the police cant solve all of them. I have a few questions about your book.1. did they ever find the bullets? 2. was their actually a translator on the police squad? 3. on that note did the police ever match the handwriting? I hope one day you do find her murderer. never give up and keep trying. I cant even imagine how hard this would be for your family. you are super strong and keep praying.

Reply: I can't answer your questions, because I don't know. The police won't give us that information because they "own" Kait's case and her family has no more rights to know things about it than any other "outsiders."

ONE TO THE WOLVES IS NOW IN PAPERBACK

Question: THIS IS LOIS DUNCAN, KAIT'S MOM: My second book about Kait's case, ONE TO THE WOLVES: ON THE TRAIL OF THE KILLER, is now available as a paperback as well as an e-book. It contains all the information we've obtained since WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER was written. The easiest way to get a copy is to order it on Amazon.

Cult

Question: My friends and I are reading this for school and we seriously think that she or some other people that could've been suspects were in a cult. No offense but it is a highly likely thing.

Asked on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:14:47 AM
Reply: One thing I am certain of is that Kait was not in a cult.

astounded! (kait arquette case)

Question: i have been an avid reader since about the age of 2, and somewhere between grammar school and middle school i devoured many (maybe all?) of ms. duncan\'s books. \"don\'t look behind you\" was my favorite, and i probably read it about a dozen times (pretty sure there\'s still a copy floating around the house somewhere, even 20-something years later). \r\ni remember reading a newspaper article as a kid, which compared the bizarre circumstances of kait\'s murder to events from several of her mother\'s books. my heart broke for the family on the spot. to find out, more than 3 decades later, that the crime is still unsolved ... i don\'t even HAVE the words to express my amazement and outrage.

Reply: Yes, we've been fighting this battle for a very long time, and we are exhausted. My new bk about the case, ONE TO THE WOLVES: ON THE TRAIL OF A KILLER is available on Amazon as an e-book for Kindles, Nooks, etc., and within days it should also be available to order as a paperback. The paperback is printed and has been shipped to the Amazon warehouses, so all they have to do now is list it on their Web site. You will learn a lot from that book.

Empathy and support

Question: Hi, I am a fan of your novels, I grew up as a teen reading a few of them. This week I was stunned after I researched & found out about what happened to your daughter. I offer my sincerest condolences, & I admire your strength in seeking answers about her death. I will continue to follow what is going on, I have a lot of questions, but I will when I can read both of your novels about Kait before I ask you any further questions. Stay Strong!

Asked on Thursday, April 09, 2015 at 09:04:13 AM
Reply: Thank you for caring. And, yes, please read both books (in the right order--WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER? and then ONE TO THE WOLVES) before asking questions. You'll find almost all your questions answered in the second book.

one to the wolves

Question: Was the tally keeper published? I was skimming some post pages and saw it mentioned, but cannot find it online. Does One to the Wolves include the the content you had written for the Tally Keeper?
Thanks, and best wishes to you!!

Asked on Wednesday, April 01, 2015 at 05:04:34 PM
Reply: "The Tally Keeper" was the working title of the second book about Kait. It's been published under the title ONE TO THE WOLVES: ON THE TRAIL OF A KILLER. As of now i's out only as an e-book for Kindles, Nooks, etc. but by the middle of April, 2015, it will also be available as a paperback. I hope you will go to your local bookstore & ask for it. If they don't have it in stock, suggest to them that they stock it. (Otherwise, you can always order the paperback on-line at Amazon.com.)

Respect and admiration

Question: Dear Lois, it is difficult to imagine the pain, anger, and frustration you, your husband, and children carry. Yet your determination to continue to pursue answers is evidence of your strength, commitment, and spirit. Please accept my hope that will be blessed with peace and hope in this Easter season!
With all respect and admiration,

Asked on Wednesday, April 01, 2015 at 04:55:52 PM
Reply: Thank you, Sharon. But always remember that Kait's case is only one of thousands that have been mishandled by the legal system. There are many other families grieving--and frustrated--and totally disillusioned with the way the Great American Justice System is NOT working.

I hope you get closure one day soon...

Question: I read Who Killed My Daughter back in the 90's and today just finished One To The Wolves. I'm appalled at the corruption in the Albuquerque Police Department, although with everything that's happened here in the last several years, I'm not surprised. I've lived in the Albuquerque Area for my entire life and my sister graduated from high school the same year as Kait so this case holds a special place in my heart as it definitely hits home for me.
My 12th grade son is using this case as the subject of a project for school involving conspiracy theories this spring. He's fascinated by the entire thing as I've told him a lot of what's going on with it, and he'll start reading Who Killed My Daughter when it comes in the mail through Amazon on Tuesday. Who knows, maybe he'll get so struck by it that one day he'll join Kait's Army and try to help. He hasn't even read the books and yet he's already very interested in how it all plays out. I just wanted to let you know that even though you mention in One To The Wolves toward the end that you and your husband are aging, there are younger generations of Albuquerqueans who are more than willing to keep Kait's memory alive and who want justice to prevail.

Asked on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 04:14:34 PM
Reply: This was a wonderful message to receive. Thank you. I'm so glad your son is intrigued by the case and is willing to share it with his classmates.

In a couple of weeks ONE TO THE WOLVES will be available in paperback as well as an e-book, so you can order that for him on Amazon as well. That book will hold even more meaning for your son and his friends that WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER because it takes to on-going corruption right up to this very day. He can look in the newspaper & read the same names that are in that book.

we are sorry for your loss

Question: Hi I'm so sore about your loss have you involved the FBI in this or maybe write a letter to Governor or president with this evidence its clear that there is corruption in The A P D even till today this is a great opportunity to do this considering the D O J involvement now I'm on your side and I am moving my family far froM Albuquerque God bless you and we will pray tho gets resolved.

Asked on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 04:50:01 PM
Reply: The FBI says they cannot get involved because murder is not a federal crime. However, the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute has now taken on Kait's case, so hopefully we will see a more active investigation.

I'm so sorry

Question: Dear Ms. Duncan,
I am so sorry for your lose, I personally know how hard and depressing it is to loose a person you love dearly. I recently finished 'Who Killed My Daughter' and it was very sad. I was so amazed by your fight to find your daughter's killer. I a very much looking forward to read 'The One With The Wolfs'. I read almost all of your books starting with Down a Dark Hall, I've always admired you and the heart catching fiction and super natural books, but after reading Who Killed My Daughter...I learned that non-fiction story can be so heart breaking. I hope you find who killed her and everything would work out fine for you and you family.

Reply: Thank you, Maya. ONE TO THE WOLVES is already available as an e-book and within a short time will also be available in paperback. I hope that you and Kait's other supporters will read it, as Kait's story has spun in new directions since WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER was published.

Question: Why dont you think your daughter boyfriends friends killed her?

So complicated!

Question: Your daughter's execution was so complicated. Kennedy's and Lincoln's assignation were not this complicated. So hard to believe that your daughter was that important to a bunch of petty thugs!

Asked on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 12:14:58 PM
Reply: I don't think our daughter herself was important to anybody (except the people who loved her). But, in the course of her relationship with her boyfriend Dung Nguyen, she must have LEARNED information that would have endangered people a lot more important than "petty thugs." The fact that she was now breaking up with Dung, made her loose cannon.

Who killed my daughter?

Question: Hi Ms Duncan, just today I finished reading your book. I am sorry for your loss and may God be with you and your family throughout all of this.
As I read the book I tried to prepare myself to the fact that the ending would upset me. I wish this was just another fiction book, that it had an ending to where the bad guys get caught. But then again, Kaitlyn's story is not over yet. I work in a school library in California. I had come accross your book once or twice but the third time I decided to read it. I was born in 1994, and it makes me both mad and sad that till this day no one has come forth.
God bless you and may he give you strength!
I can't wait to get my hands on the second book.

-JESS

bullets

Question: where did the large caliber bullets go if there were two shooters and one had a small gun that killed her and the other shots were from a big gun, where did those bullets go?

BY BOURKE

Asked on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 11:57:47 AM
Reply: Since we obviously have no proof, I can only speculate. If you want me to GUESS: My guess is that the larger bullet was found during the second day work-up on Kait's car, and because it proved 2 guns were used (and therefore that the shooting could not have been "random")that bullet--plus the reports & photos from the second-day work-up that the Criminalistics supervisor tell us were given to the homicide detectives and also to the records department--have been confiscated by whoever it was in the department who orchestrated a cover-up of Kait's case.

From: TerrellG.

Asked on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10:46:49 AM

THE LETTERS

Question: Was there ever a Vietnamese person on the police force or was that a lie by GALLEGOS?

Asked on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 12:11:23 PM
Reply: As far as we've been able to determine there was never a Vietnamese person in the Albuquerque Police Department. (At least, there wasn't one there at the time of Kait's murder, although it's possible there has been since that time.)
