Kait Arquette Case Comments |
I was very saddened to hear the story of Kait. I am 18 also. She was a beautiful girl and whoever did it to her, I hope they rot in hell. What song was Kait singing on the wav clip when she was 12 ? It sounds familiar, but I am hard of hearing and can't place it.
[From a girl in Arkansas]
my name is DeAnna and i wish to find out more about Kait's murder i have read everything that i can find on her murder i have done several reports on Kait's murder. can you tell me any extra information that might not be found on the internet or in a book or a newspaper?
DeAnna
Well first of all I want to say that I'm very sorry about your daughter's murder. At first I checked out the book "Who killed my Daughter?" from my Jr. High School library. I was shocked about what happened to Kait. Now that I read that there is a sequel about your daughter's murder I can't wait until I get the book. I was reading what you have written on the home page and I am very suspisios about Doug and how he knew that she was dead before you did and the fact that he said that "they" killed her. I think that the police should question Doug's friends and get Doug to do a lie detector test. I remember that in your first book about Kait you said that the phycic told you about Kait being threaned with a knife. I also remember that you went up to that house to see what you could find out. My whole point is that the police haven't been doing their part in investigating who killed her or why. I know that they won't take evidence from the phicic you talked to ,but the least they can do is try to see if she is right or not.
Thank You,
Me.

Response:The APD Cold Case Squad is supposedly now looking at information that the initial investigators didn't follow up on.
this isnt a tip i just wanted to say good luck. i am 15 and i choose to read your book for my book report and i am so glad i did. i hope you find the guy that did it. you will find him one day. i have faith.
Response:We have faith too. If we didn't, we couldn't keep going.
I am 13 years old and I am doing a report on Kait's murder I don't believe that Dung killed Kait but I do believe that she had imformation of drrug trafficing and that was why she was killed
My Condollances
DeAnna
Response:We believe the same thing. If you visit the Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com, and read other Albuqueque cases, (specifically Peter Klunck, Stephen Harr, and Ramona Duran), you will see some strong similarities. All three of those young people had information about VIPs in the Albuquerque drug scene.
hi mrs lois duncan im a 13 yr. old that lives in california (san diego) well actually chula vista. i finished reading the book "who killed my daughter" and i have read most of your fiction novels and i just wanna tell you that you are my favorite author and that im writing a research paper about you for my english class. since in the book it mentions the vitnamese people coming to san diego i was worried for my family and me. so i want to ask you if you know anything about the vietnamese coming to san diego? i hope that the case is solved. i look forward to reading more about this case. you and your family is in all of my prayers.

Response:Just as with other races, there are Vietnamese who are fine people and Vietnamese who are criminals. But, to answer your basic question, according to insurance fraud investigators in California, the insurance fraud car wreck scam is very active in San Diego.

I am 13 years old.I started doing a research paper on Kiat's murder and I love your books I am currently reading "Who Killed My Daughter" and I do believe with all my heart that Dung had something do with her murder.
Love always
Heather
Response:We believe he has information, but not that he killed Kait.
I have just finished your book, I am 14 and it captured my heart! I have gotten 7 of my friends to read your book. On my opinion Dung must have had somthing to do with her murder. May god be with your faimly, and hopefully someone will be put to justice
Kristal
Response:Thank you, Kristal.
I began reading the horrible story of what happend to your daughter about three hours ago and have not been able to put the book down. I know that there is no ending in the book so I got online to see if there was one yet. To my surprise and horror I found that there was not. My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family and to Kait. I wish you the best of luck and wish that there was more I could do to help. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story with us!
[joei]
Response:Kait's story is just one of many thousands of similar stories. The only difference is that I was fortunate enough to be in a position to get a book published. All those other families are suffering just as much as we are, but they can't get their voices heard. That's what is gtruly heartbreaking.
Hi....First of all I want to send my condolences to the whole Arquette family. I'm very sorry for your loss. I've never lost anyone close to me before, so I can't tell you I understand, but I hope things have gotten easier. Secondly, I want to tell you, Mrs. Arquette, that I highly respect you as a writer. You are by far one of my favorites. I just started reading "Who Killed My Daughter?", and I've just reached the page that shows the pictures of the rainbows. Is there anywhere on the web that these pictures are posted, b/c they aren't very clear in the book, and I was wanting to get a better look at them. Thanks for your time, and God be with you. [Andrea H.]
I am 13 years old and I have been reading Who Killed My Daughter? It is extremely sad that someone would kill on put a hit out on this smart and beautiful young woman this is a mess. I hope her family will soon heal from the pain they have been going through for the pass 10 or so years.May Kait Rest in Peace. (From Cherparadise Blakney from Atlanta,Ga)
Response:Thank you, honey.
Mrs Arquette,
After reading your book several times it is very evident to me that Dung had everything to do with Kait's death. What reason would anyone write a note other than to cover up his own involvement? Why would he be able to call someone at 12midnight about Kait's murder when he wasn't even informed about her death from the police until after 3am? These stand out like a murder's sore thumb to the millions of us that have read your book and pray for Kaits soul to rest and your familys peace. If the police were not so corrupt in NM they would have arrested Dung & he would have squealed like the little quilty pig he is but he is too involved in the big picture for this to have happened. Some day your peace will come - but it may be in the after life when you see where these people are cast to by our Lord and Savior. We truly pray you find the responsible people with Kait's help. (JM & SueR)
Response:We've never believed that Dung shot Kait or wanted her killed.
However, there is strong reason to believe that he and his friends were at the scene when the shooting took place. Not only from the facts you've mentioned above, but from the fact that, when Det. Gallegos left Dung's apartment, after telling him Kait was at University Hospital, Dung DID NOT DRIVE TO THE HOSPITAL! Instead, he and two car loads of friends, (who just happened to be up and dressed and waiting to go at 4 a.m.) drove right PAST the hosital and went TO THE SCENE. They knew where it was, even though Det. Gallegos didn't tell them!!!
One possibility is that Dung and his friends were WITNESSES to the shooting. They may have been following Kait to see where she was going, or because they wanted to warn her that she was in danger, and were there when it happened, but didn't do it. If the people who shot Kait were under the protection of certain cops, that would be reason enough for APD to direct the investigation away from the Vietnamese. As you say, if interrogated properly, Dung would have revealed all he knew.
We still pray that one day he will.
Good afternoon Mrs Arquette, I have just finished reading your book "Who killed my daughter" and I am just amazed and disapointed of the justice system in our country.
I cannot believe how after the police having all the evidence and proof in front of them they would make no arrests and have the guts to say it was a "random shooting" it makes me think that they know who did it but are just to lazy to do something about it.
Mrs. Arquette after all these years, do you ever know what happened to Kait's boyfriend Dung??? I sure hope they got him and put him in jail where he belongs, after looking at his picture in your book, I immediately thought as him being a bad person, something in his eyes just wasnt right. I sure hope they find the people that killed Kait, don't give up, although it's hard when all these people involved are illegal immigrants. God I sure hope they get them one day.
Sincerely, Paula H.
Response:Dung still lives in Albuquerque. As far as we know, he's never even been properly interrogated, much less arrested.
Dung and his friends were not "illegal immigrants." They were in this country legally and had Green Cards. However, at least one of them -- An Quoc Le -- has since been naturalized using another person's Alien Registration Number. A member of the NIA informed us of that, but never followed up on it.
Mrs. Arquette, I just finished your book a few moments ago and I was so curious to know the answer to the case that I came out to the computer at 12:45A.M. to find out. I was amazed to find that the case older then I still isn't finished. I am hoping and praying the end is very near. I am one of 6 kids and all my brothers and sisters are very close though we are in a range of 12 years apart from me(the youngest) and my oldest brother, I couldn't imagine how you and your children felt. Please dont ever give up in this because I know, as well as a lot of people, the answer is out there somewhere and is bound to come rolling in one day.
Much Luck and Love,
TeRRi -14-
Response:Yes, the answer is out there. All it will take is for one single person to have enough courage and caring to give it to us.
We believe that person exists. And is reading this message board.
For that person: Please, don't wait too long. You might be hit be a truck tomorrow, and that information would die with you! Please, give us some peace before all of us check out of here.
Did you see the article in the ABQ journal(1/20/05) regarding another (state) narcotics police officer tied to narcotics dealing? This office joined the force in 1990, and may have been connected back then....
Response:Yes, we did see it, but didn't realize he dated back to 1990.
A lot of drug activity involving law enforcement goes back to that era. In May, 2004, Chief Judge John Brennan, of Albuquerque was arrested on narcotics charges. The media aired information from a confidential narcotics report about drug activities involving, not only Judge Brennan, but numerous other prominent NM judges, attorneys, and members of the state legislature dating back to before Kait was murdered. “It draws on a variety of sources and reads like a Who’s Who of New Mexico drug underworld,” the reporter said. “Judges, lawyers, politicians, sports celebrities and prominent businessmen appear in the report right along side the State’s narcotics kingpins.”
Who knows what Kait stumbled onto that led to her death?!!!
Mrs. Arquette, as a fan of your books since I was a preteen, I tried to look up any new works by you on the 'Net. That is when I found out about the existence of "Who Killed My Daughter?". I just finished reading this afternoon, and I can't begin to describe the emotions that I went through while reading it. And of course, my emotions are only a tiny pinprick to what you and your family have gone through.
I am skeptical of psychic phenomena, but when I read a book like yours, I am forced to examine my beliefs. I hope and pray that the investigation by you and by the police will finally get the answers for which you have been searching.
I am the mother of two young daughters, and I cannot even begin to comprehend the pain of losing one.
[Michelle P, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan]
Response:I wish you so much joy with your beloved daughters!
Mrs Arquette, Because I found your Web site I purchased your book and became engrossed in it and all the web postings. I found myself praying every night for your family and for Kait. You are a strong family especially for fighting for her for all these years. I will keep praying and checking back to this site in hopes that you find resolve for this beautiful soul. I have a 22 year old daughter and would be doing the same thing if this happened to her. Maybe that is why I am so drawn to you and your story. Your writing abilitiy is God's gift just like Kait is. Her connection to you will continue for life times to come. Please don't ever give up. I will pray for your fight. June B in Denver (JBbug@aol.com)
Response:Your message means more to me than you will ever know.
Please,Please,Please gie us more information on the Talley Keeper.I hae been coming in here for about 3 years, hoping there would be more information on the Talley Keeper.I just get tired of coming in here and there is the same old thing.I hope you get Kaits killers.what happen to Kaits web site Mary Musick-Biddix
Response:The Albuquerque Police Department Cold Case Squad has reopened Kait's case and is investigating those things that were not investigated before. They don't share with us what they're discovering.
If you think YOU'RE impatient for more information, think how WE feel?
I ran into this story purely by accident and am appalled at the whole story and cover-up by the police. I wonder what the detectives would do if this was their beautiful daughter caught in this web of destruction? I can only hope the people (monsters) responsible are caught and disposed of in her parents lifetime. If not I hope they are comforted knowing that they will be answering for their actions to our higher power. June B from Denver CO.
Response:Thank you, June. We do hope this happens in our lifetime, but if it doesn't, Kait's brothers and sisters will continue the battle.
Could you please reiterate the address of the former Noah Robinson home? Is this the castle-like home that the psychic confirmed? Is it the same one for which the former owner provided false info on his loan app or something to that effect?
Response:Noah Robinson's address was 7 Sandia Heights Dr. NE. It is not the same house the psychic, Nancy Czetli, identified as a house frequented by VIPs who held drug parties there. That particular house was in Glenwood Hills.
However, it's now been confirmed by a private investigator that the Glenwood Hills house was indeed a drug party house. So that may be what the psychic was latching onto, and it may be a different house from the one Kait visited.
i was looking to buy "summer of fear" the movie, when i realized it was book written by you (you'd think i would know this, working in a library), so i thought i'd read up about you. i remember, i think fairly recently, that you were on the Today Show talking about kate's murder. i can't believe that things still aren't solved after all these years (i'm shaking my in bewilderment). but i do have a question, has sharon smith come out of the woodwork? have you put together what she may have known? God Bless, dee
Response:We know where Sharon is and have communicated with her a couple of times. She continues to maintain that she knows nothing more than she has told us.
I wish one of the private investigators would try and get an interview
with Noah Robinson. If the guy really is in prison for life-what does he have to lose by talking? I think he's kind of old too and maybe he wants the chance to be of some good before he leaves this world.{L.G}
Response:Noah Robinson may not even know Kait existed. He was arrested in '88 and eventually convicted of murder-for-hire, drug trafficking and racketeering. That means that Noah may or may not have been living in his Albuquerque residence in July, 1989.
Noah still would have owned that property in 1989, and his VIP friends in Albuquerque might well have continued to utilize it after he left Albuquerque. If (and we don't know this for a fact) Noah's home was, indeed, "The Desert Castle," the people who congragated there after Noah was arrested/indicted/convicted could have been the ones responsible for Kait's murder. But it doesn't seem likely that Noah, himself, was behind that.
I've reasearch the new mexico court records regarding the arrest of Garcia and Escobedo. Within the record, there is a reference to Faye Ocano and Eric Tapia. How are these people related to the case?
Response:Faye Ocano is a member of a large extended family who had a longstanding feud going with Miguel Garcia's family. Her sister, Anna Sandoval, lived across the street from the Garcias at 333 1/2 Rosemont NE.
Six months after Kait's murder, Faye, Anna, and various other members of that family all started phoning Crime Stoppers to accuse Miguel Garcia of shooting Kait. Anna and Faye stated that they were standing in front of Anna's house on the night of the shooting and saw a vehicle owned by Juve Escobedo pull up next to the Garcia house. They said Miguel got out of the vehicle, ran up to the window of his home, "and got a rifle and something else from the car and handed the intems through the window to a woman inside, to whom he said, "Hide this, we just killed somebody." He allegedly said this loudly enough so the women across the street had no trouble hearing him.
Faye Osuna embellished this story by stating tht Dennis (Marty) Martinez and a fourth man, Eric Tapia, were in the back seat of Juve's car. Eric Tapia was given a polygraph and stated that he knew nothing about the incident and had never been in Juve's car. He passed the polygraph and wasn't arrest. None of the three who were arrested were given polygraphs.
I am re-reading Who Killed My Daughter for the second time. I hope to uncover something I may have missed first time around.
Response:Remember, everything in that book took place prior to 1992. We have learned a lot since then. The most crucial information appears on this web site, not in the book.
FROM THE ARQUETTE FAMILY:
As many of you came to realize before WE realized it, this message board was not working properly for several weeks. Without our knowing it, your messages were piling up somewhere in ciberspace, but not getting posted on the board. Then suddenly, THERE THEY ALL WERE AT ONCE! And I'm trying to respond to them all at once on Christmas Day.
Our thanks to you all for your kind messages and for caring about us and about Kait. May 2005 be a magical year for every one of us.
Lois and Don -- Robin, Kerry, Brett and Donnie
-- and, somewhere out there, watching what's going on here and trying in her own way to guide us -- Kait
Merry Christmas. You,Kait and your family is in our prayers and hopes. I can only imagine your suffering and do hope some day this tragedy can be solved.
Response:Thank you.
I was just wondering-is there a sequel called "The Tally Keeper" that is published and can be purchased?
Response:The Tally Keeper hasn't been published yet because I continue to add new information. I keep hoping that Kait's story will eventually have an ending.
FROM THE ARQUETTE FAMILY: Molly, we've tried to respond to your e-mail, and it bounced. The answer is "yes," please place a luminaria on Kait's grave. Thank you so much.
Have any more of Betty's readings panned out? I pray for progress with the Cold Case detectives.
Best wishes to you at this Christmas season & in the New Year.
Response:Betty's reading do continue to pan out, including some that you don't know about because she made them after the book came out. But the most important reading -- that "the truth will be exposed" -- has yet to come true.
merry christmas
Response:We wish a merry Christmas to all of you who care enough to visit Kait's web site and post on her message board.
THE ARQUETTE FAMILY
Hello again-
How are things going? The holidays are coming up soon, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season! I hope the investigation is going good!! Good Bye, your friend.
Response:Thank you.
Hi-
I am twelve years old. I have read many of Lois Duncan's books. I enjoy all of them. I am planning to read "Who Killed my Daughter." This is terrible that the murderer has never been caught. I too doubt that this was just a random drive-by shooting. I am sorry for your loss, I encourage you to move on a bit, though I am sure you have. Keep searching, who knows if you will ever figure out who the killer was, but it was your daughter, so I am sure some searching is worth it. Good Luck, your friend.
Response:We have "moved on" in many ways, but we have not given up our quest to uncover the truth.
Hello Mrs. Arquette and family,
I want to wish your family a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year. I hope your case is progressing well too. :) I hope all is well in your family.
Take care, Rachel S.
rachels1999@hotmail.com
Response:Thank you, Rachel. We wish you a lovely holiday season as well.
All the best to you during this holiday season. I continue to pray for you and for justice.
[teacherinpa]
Response:Thank you.
I wanted to offer my condolences on the death of your daughter. I just recently came across your book even though i am 2 years older then Kaitlyn would be and read all your books when i was a young girl in the 70's. It is hard to imagine that so much time has passed and you still have no justice. I admire your strength and determination. God Bless, [Janet]
Response:Thank you, Janet.
My heart goes out to you and your family Lois. I just finished reading your book "Who Killed My Daughter". I'm surprised that I actually finished it. I cried most of the way through it. You and your family are etched in my mind forever! I'm looking forward to your next book on this matter, as I'll be thinking about Kait til then...
Love Mara
Response:Thank you for this lovely message.
Hi im 11 years old and im reading your book "Who Killed My Daughter" and its very sad Ive also looked on the internet at stuff about her murder. I wanted to tell you that i think your daughter would be very proud of you for being so determend to find her killer. And iI also wanted to tell you I want to be a "Crime Scene Investigator" when i grow up and if it ever happens then ill defenatly try to figure her case out
Christy1c9b9w3@aol.com
Response:That will be wonderful, Christy! I wish you were a "Crime Scene Investigator" RIGHT NOW!
Sorry but I have no tips or leads but I would just like to say that I hope that one day you will be able to find who killed your daughter. I came upon this site when I was online reading about the movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer"and I saw that is was previously a novel. I read about the author and stumbled opon this site. I am only 14 and was not even born when Kaitlyn was murdered but i really hope that you can find out who did it. I plan on reading all of your books. I feel really sorry for all that has happened to your family.
Hoping for the best.
Cecil Brown
Response:Thank you, Cecil. And I certainly hope you read my novel, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, instead of renting the horrible movie. They are nothinig at all alike.
May you and your family have a wonderful holiday season, and I hope and pray that this year will be the year your daughter's case is solved. Merry Christmas, and God Bless
Response:Every year we keep thinking, "Maybe this upcoming year will be the one!" Maybe this year, it actually WILL BE.
Dear Mrs.Arqette,and family
I am sorry for what has happend to your family and I would just like to tell you that no matter how long it takes for you to find that one person you should not give up, because I belive you are getting closer to finding him(or her). I belive if you write more books that included the updates to the first book of Who Killed My Daughter people will spread the news even quicker. Alot of people will start to understand how important this really is.
[ From:Tanisha]
Response:There will be another book. But, in the meantime, I hope this message board will serve that purpose.
This Story lingers in my mind almost on a daily basis. I think the police officers need to loose THEIR child so viciously and then be told its a open and shut case!Or to be told your son commited suicide then to learn of stab wound from the funeral home! These police officers that handled Kait's murder are just evil and I hope to god none of them are still working as police officers. You are in my prayers and I will definatly be reading your next book. Has Dung ever been pressured, interogated harshly to get him to speak up? I beleive he knows eveything and needs to be a real man, for once.
Response:No, the police have never subjected Dung to any pressure. We still don't know why. Although we don't believe that dung was the shooter, we have strong reason to think that he was at the scene when Kait was shot. He could solve this murder if he wanted to.
Bless you and your efforts for justice. I am a teacher, and every chance I get, I mention WKMD? and recommend it to students and faculty alike.
There are many lessons that can be learned from Kait's story, and reading it has helped ME to become a better judge of character.
Response:My reason for writing this book was to motivate informants and to prevent the facts of Kait's case from being buried and forgotten. But it seems to have served additional purposes as well. I receive a lot of mail from young people, who read the book thinking it was just another "Lois Duncan suspense story," and then realized, part way into it, that the story was true -- that things like this DO happen -- and that getting involved with the wrong people can be very dangerous.
Hello. I have read the book Who Killed My Daughter about 8 or 9 times because I'm totally dumbfounded and outraged by all the inconsistencies in the stories from the police and the excuses , the fact that businesses just happened to be closed shortly after her death and the fact that phone numbers have changed. I have tried to go over the book and see if there is anything that pops out at me and the one part that I felt strongly about was the part from Betty Meunch about the friend Kait was at what was thought to be a shopping mall with earlier on the day she was shot. Also the part about the ex-boyfriend with the silver bracelet. Is there any way to contact him, has anyone contacted him already , I didn't see any updates about that but maybe I missed it. Has Betty Meunch been contacted at all to find out whether she feels that there were connections between these judges and Kait's death? This awful heartbreaking story really caught my attention, I have never read the same book that many times before, I really want this murder to be solved and justice to be served. Anyone with any form of common sense would realize after reading this book and seeing all the REAL facts that this was not a drive by shooting that was "random" this was a hit and the people that did this need to be punished for the rest of their pathetic and sad lives!
I think Lois Duncan should write another book with all the updated facts, some people don't have access to the internet etc. and seeing a sequil to the first book with all the new information a lot of people would want to read it and maybe someone would be able to piece something together to get these awful people convicted and thrown in the slammer. I would just really like justice to be served and Kait's poor family to be done with this horrible struggle and be at peace. I am very sorry for Kait and for what her family has gone through and I would like to condem Kait's family for never giving up .
Response:Yes, the boy with the bracelet did contact us after reading my book. It's true that he was dating Kait behind Dung's back, but we have no reason to believe that he was involved in what happened to her.
We've now reached a point where there is little more that psychics can do to help us. The help we need now is from law enforcement. They are the only ones who have the authority to follow up on evidence and interrogate suspects and witnesses.
I was wondering if you have recieved any of Kait's posecions, "evidence" as the cops say, and if you have or anyone has proved that the APD did have the objects? I was also wondering if you have lost your faith in physics ability to point you in the right direction or if you have been to a physic since the ones that you told about in your book. Peace and love, good luck with everything.
MS
Response:Det. Gallegos originally told us he could not return the items from Kait's desk (address book, snapshots, letters, birth certificate, etc.) because they were "marked as evidence." (Evidence of a "random driveby shooting"?) However, when our PI checked the evidence room, Kait's things weren't there. According to their records, they had never been checked into evidence.
Kait's possessions remained missing for seven years. Then they surfaced in a closet in the Violent Crimes Department. We attempted to claim them, but at that point, Det. Gallegos DID check them into evidence.
Now, 15 years after the shooting, Kait's possessions are still being withheld from us.
Dear Arquette family,
I am sorry to say that I can be of no help as to the fact that I can give you no information on your daughters case. I just happened to see he book, "Who Killed My Daughter" on a shelf at my libary and reconigized the name as an author that I used to read in school. I just want you to know that I know how much the power of prayer works. I have recently had an ocasion in my life that took alot of praying. I want you to know that now that I know the story, that I will pray that you will find the answers that you all have been looking for. I hope that everything comes out very soon. Please keep updating the site so people that are interested can catch up. And remember that if there is anything that I can do.
My e-mail is m_staszak@yahoo.com please e-mail me! I would also like to know when the next book is going to come out.
[Mandy Staszak Michigan]
Response:We appreciate your prayers and those of so many others. I, too, believe they have power.
No, I don't have any new novels scheduled for publication in the near future. It's hard to focus on creating a fictional mystery when our true life murder case remains unsolved.
i just wanted to say your family is in my prayers everyday i am the youngest of paul fitzjerrells sisters and everytime i pray for a break in pauls case i pray for a break in kaits case and the cases of other familys who have been robbed by nm police.
[with love val]
Response:I'm so glad to hear from you, Val! I've lost touch with your sister, and have been longing for an update on Paul's case. Please, get in touch by private e-mail and let me know what's been happening. Whenever your family feels ready, we will gladly post Paul's story on our Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com.
Ms. Arquette, I've followed this story off an on since the day it happened. I'm sure you don't remember me at all, but you actually mention me in your book. I worked for the attorney you used to date (I think you dated him) WAY before you were married to your husband. The attorney's initials are PFB. When you were leaving his office I told you how much I loved your books and had read them for years. You kindly sent me two signed books within the next few days. I have never forgotten what a kind person you were. Every time I read anything about this case I keep hoping that it has a huge break. though I'm sure you hope even more! I really don't know what to say other than maybe it helps you to know that your family's portrayal of Kaitlyn has a lasting effect. Through your websites, books, etc. you have brought her to life for so many of us and the knowledge such a beautiful person (inside and out) was taken is heartbreaking.
You're in my prayers. Lin
Response:Indeed, I do remember you, Lin. You probably don't realize it, but you gave me far more than I gave you.
I did once date the attorney you were working for, but that was back in the 60s. We broke up and married other people and hadn't had any contact for at least 20 years. But when my husband and I searched the yellow pages for the name of a trustworthy lawyer, his name jumped out at us, and I remembered what an honest and caring person he was. I made an appointment to ask his help in finding a private investigator in Orange County who could provide us with information about the Vietnamese carwreck scam. He didn't charge us a penny for doing that.
Then, as I was leaving his office, you were sitting there behind a desk in the reception area and popped out with the statement, "Ms. Duncan, I just want to tell you that you're my favorite author!"
You made me feel like "Lois Duncan" -- a person with strength and ability -- not just the pitiful, over-emotional mother of a murdered daughter. You gave MYSELF back to me when you said that. I'll always be grateful.
I am SO very sorry for your daughters Murder! Its been nearly 20 years and its still not solved? I'd love to here any updates to your book, Who Killed My Daughter! I have never really been interested in reading. But In one of my classes I had to read a crime book and after I started reading I never wanted to put you book down! MUCH LOVE FOR YOU, KAITLYN, AND THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY!!!!!
~Brittany~
Response:Well, it's actually 15 years -- (which to somebody your age must seem the same as 20, but to those of us who are counting the months, we're not quite there yet). Thank you for reading my book and for caring about Kait.
I've just finished reading this book a second time today. My heart goes out to you and to your family. My prayer is that this crime be solved so that your family may have resolution to the greatest tragedy a family may suffer.
I'm a secondary English teacher and have encouraged many students through many years to read your books. Once when I taught in Scottsdale, Arizona, two of my students made a conference call to you one night after reading one of your books. They were amazd that you would take time to talk with them. They were already good readers, but you were a great encouragement to them. Thank you for that conversation.
Sincerely,
Lois Ladd Swinney
Response:Helping young people learn to love reading as much as watching the boob tube has always been a major goal in my life. I'm glad that the conference call was a success with your students.
Has anything new or signifacant happend in reguards to your daughters case?
Response:The most significant thing right now is that it's being reviewed by the new APD Cold Case Squad.

hi
my name is arti and i read your book "who killed my daughter" and was deeply hurt that such pain was caused to people who had not done anything to deserve it,i also visited your website. i have a few questions: what are your other children up to,are you still writting, when will the book the tally keeper come out. you are in my prayers,i was taught that we pay for our crimes on earth before we are reborn, so i want to let you know that i have full faith that the people who have hurt your innocent child will pay the price.
Response:Thank you for caring about our surviving children. All but Donnie have their own web sites. Robin's is www.lullabysongs.net. Kerry's is www.cantatabooks.com. Brett's is brett.arquette.com/dp.html. We're very proud of all of them.
RE: You wrote, "Some info on Noah Robinson:
....His home was on Sanda Heights Drive NE. The psychic Noreen Renier said that, if you drew a clock around where Kait was found, the house where she saw a VIP doing drugs would be at about 2:00-2:30. That could put it on Sandia Heights Drive. Pretty weird stuff. "
I can't believe this just occurred to me --maybe the "Desert Castle" didn't look like a castle--maybe the "castle" is a metaphor for the home of a drug "lord"--a crime king, so to speak. Traditionally, castles were defended fortresses where kings and their warriors would eat, sleep, plan, celebrate. A man's home is his castle; the drug lord's "home" would be a place where dealers, high-level users, and their hangers-on would congregate.
Response:You may have hit the nail on the head!!!!!!!
Dear sirs,
I found your site while looking for online records of Farmington, MN. poLICE corruption. I really am gratefull that you have posted all this information on the inernet. To many people belive today that police officers can do no wrong. I intend to pass your website out to as many people that I can, to spread the word.
I have been battling the farmington, MN poLICE for four years. It started in 1999, when I returned from service in the U.S. Army. I found out that my half-sister and her husband took advantage of my father when he was in the VA hospital with his second stroke. These crooks conned him into giving them 40 acres of the family farm, under false pretenses. Then when I returned in 1999, they started a campaign to have me "taken out of the picture". They used a very poorly writen law, Order For Protection (OFP), as a way to discredit me and to have me removed from my family farm. Social workers documented that my half-sister entered false statements against me, and they even testified on my behalf in court. The social worker even documented that my half-sister & husband were using an OFP as a way to have me removed from the remander of the family farm. OFP's have absolutly no requirement to tell the truth, no requirement to pay restitution if found lying, and they immediatly go into affect the moment papers are filed, even before you get a chance to go before a judge.
All this time the farmington, MN poLICE have ignored all the evidence that these crooks have falsified information against me. The zvanovec's (my half-sister & husband), have stolen my mail & even my mailbox. This is the only charge the farmington poLICE have brought against the zvanovec's, but they failed to notify me of the court date & handled the charges themselves, so the zvanovec's were fined the bare minimum allowed by the courts. One time the zvanovec's falsified some documents against me, and the poLICE took finger prints & hand writting samples, all sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), in the Twin Cities. The BCI completely cleared me, but the poLICE witheld this information from me until after the zvanovec's we allowed to make false statements in court against me. I even found out directly from the owner of the company that these document were from that they were never ever contacted at any time, and gave me signed statements to these facts. When I submitted these to the poLICE they ignored this also.
I have found at least 15 plus falsified police reports by the zvanovec's against me, which are constantly ignored by the farmington, MN poLICE department. The zvanovec's have lied under oath in court every time there. They both have extensive records of drug and alcohol problems. The farmington, MN poLICE department also has an extensive record of wrong doing. The chief of police was even at the Atlanta Olympic's where the police falsly accused Richard Jewel of the bombing, the FBI still hasn't convicted anyone of that crime.
Unfortunatly I have found that going against a police department is truly an uphill battle, I am constantly told that "you know they are going to keep lying about you, so why don't you move away", I cannot understand this kind of thinking. Why should anyone who is right, run away and ignore the truth? Well I intend to keep up the fight and pass the word along about police officers who abuse their power. I have constantly found that police officers who do crimes, usually quit the local police department & then move to another city or state, where they continue as if nothing happened. These officers seldom loose their liscense to be officers.
I hope that by passing your website along to others that may help you in some little way. We all need to get together and pass the word about police officers who violate laws, unfortunatly so the vast majority of "good" officers ignore & outright protect bad officers. I have found it time & again that other officers know about the problems, but constantly ignore them. And try going to higher agencies with these problems, they constantly think your the criminal. I have been in contact with the FBI about this case, but I really don't know their status as of yet.
Well thanks for the website, and keep up the battle. And like they say "The truth shall be my shield", I hope you find all you are searching for.

Response:What a horror story! I am so sorry. You may want to visit our Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com, which involves stories other than Kait's. I believe there may be several there from Minnesota. It's possible the police you were dealing with were involved in one of those other cases as well.
Hi. I haven't actually read "Who killed my daughter?", but I've just gone through all the info on the site. Although I can't provide any help (seeing as I was still a kid in 1989 AND I live on the other side of the world in Australia), just wanted to say that I really admire you guys for being so determined for the past 15 years. I am sure that, through your hard work and determination, Kaitlyn's killer will be brought to justice one day (soon). In the meantime, I will keep your family in my prayers.
[from:Amily]
Response:Thank you, Amily.
I finished reading your book and I must say that I feel very angry because if the police can't do anything about your daughter's murder then you should take the case to the highest court system and have them all tried again (Juve Escobedo, Miguel Garcia, Dennis Martinez). I wish you well and keep searching for your answers.
Response:I'm afraid it's not as easy as that. But it's a nice thought.
hI i AM rACHEL, i JUST READ YOUR BOOK AND I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS CRIME, IT IS SO AWFUL i FEEL FOR YOUR FAMILY, I can't possibly feel your pain, I am curious though -have they ever translated those letters or found the evidence box you gave them?, wouldn't that be strange if the truth lies in those letters, if he didn't have a sister than who were they from? have you run into dung since? or has juve been arrested yet? what if any was betty's feeling about the letters? were they important? maybe the police did have them translated and found something important and that 'caused them to quickly lose them? did Tran put the hit on kaitlyn? and if all of it leads to him as te leader why hasn't this been answered? I am so shaken by this , and kaitlyn and i never met, we are or would be the same age. And I just really want to see a happy ending, when is the next book? i didn't see a publishing date? my email is rachelterry@comcast.net
please write soon, and be well.
-Rachel
Response:As far as we know, the police never translated the letters. However, we were able to acquire copies of some of them, and a fraud investigator in California had those translated. There was nothing incriminating in those particular letters, (there's no way to know what was in the letters the police didn't release to us), but they did make it clear that Dung needed money and Kait was more-or-less supporting him. The letters were from an assortment of Dung's Vietnamese friends, from his parents in Vietnam, and from one of his sisters who lives in Kansas City. No sister in California.
No publishing date has been set for the new book, because I haven't finished writing it.
I was wondering what happened to Kait's photo gallery on your homepage. It has dissapeared.
Response:The person who created the photo gallery for us apparently decided not to continue to maintain it. We need to take that link off the home page.
I am in the process of reading your book, my sister has already read it. In fact she couldn't put it down. I live in Albuquerque and it makes me sick to think that APD, the same APD that is covering up your daughters murder is the one I look to for help. It is scary when I think about it. My step mothers family is going throught the same thing you have been going through for the past 15 years. My step sister's son Adrian was killed on New Years Eve in 2002 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The Las Vegas Police said it was Adrian who shot himself in the head, but Adrian was left handed and the bullet entered behind his right ear at and angle and not at close range. The police have pretty much closed the case. Our family still looks for answers and for people to come forward. That is why I think what you are doing is making people realize that we don't have to give up and just accept what they tell us, and for that I thank you. You are giving courage to those who have none. May God bless you and your family always.
Veta.
Response:I'm so sorry about the tragic loss of your step-nephew. Your stepsister might want to review the many New Mexico cases on the Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com. If she feels that her son's case was mishandled by law-enforcement and has documentation to support her allegations, that would be a way to get the facts out.
Hi i just got done reading your book, and I loved it! I love how you never give up and I'm sure your daughter loves you for trying so hard to catch her killer, she would love you no matter what. I think you should keep trying to matter what the detectives or anyone tells you, God will keep you safe while your looking for who is responsible for Kaits murder. Another thing I was wondering about was Kaits ring she always wore, I saw it in all her pictures. I was wondering if you ever took it to the psychics to see if they could see anything in it. I dont know if yall buried her with it or not but if yall still had it I thought it would be a good thing a psychic would use. But again I loved your book and never give up you'll find them! It's pretty sad that New Mexico police dont do thier job, I live in Clovis NM, and I never thought they were this bad. Oh and another thing to let you know there is a big big mexican mafia in El Paso that deals drugs through california, NM, and of course El Paso and im sure they were the ones involved but my mom is the one who knows for a fact there is and wanted me to throw that in but anyways stay strong through this and careful, God Bless.
Jaymi
Response:Kait's father bought that ring for her on a family vacation to Mexico, and she never took it off. She was buried wearing the ring.
hi lois and don, as you may have guessed, i have just completed your book recently. i would tell you what my ideas on who the killer or killers in the middle of this crime web, but the psychics and other informants have already told you. i am especially upset at the apd because a future profiler like myself would be happy to help if you have any other information to give me. please contact me at bandfreak1987@yahoo.com
Response:Dear Future Profiler -- I wish you were a profiler NOW, and could immediately start helping people. God bless you for your good intentions. All the information we can offer the public is on Kait's web site, which, of course, includes the "Update" section. That, and other information have been given to the Cold Case detective at APD to follow up on.
Hi i just finished reading your book "who killed my daughter" and i hope to one day get to read the next part. I live in Anaheim,Ca really close to westminister and while reading this book i was shocked to read about such a sad tradgedy that maybe originated here. I will continue to find out when your next book comes out i would really like to read it. i wish you and your family luck. i admire that you haven't given up.
(latinasugar@aol.com)
Response:We have heard from a number of residents of Orange County -- many of whom are good Vietnamese-American citizens -- who tell us that they live in constant fear of the "Vietnamese mafia." One Vietnamese teenager said that stores in their area of town close at 4 p.m. because store keepers are afraid to stay open any later. She thanked me for writing WHO KILLED MY DAUGHTER? and said, "I pray that this book will open the eyes of the public to what is going on here. We are being terrorized by OUR OWN PEOPLE, and the police are too intimidated to do anything about it."
Hi, I am a 17 year old Junior, and I just got done reading your book, "Who Killed My Daughter?" I think it is an excellent book, but very sad and tramatizing. I am very sorry about your lose. After looking on sites to find out more information, I found this site and realized you have a sequal to this book.
But mainly why I am writing you is because of your intense feelings after she passed away. I too, have had three very close friends get killed in the past 8 months. And I know this sounds funny, But i have seen them and talked to them after they have passed. I am very interested in trying to contact them through channeling and telling them good bye. But I know if I go to my parents they will think I am crazy. But I have had this "3rd sense" for awhile, and I can talk to the dead. It seems very creepy. But I would like to learn more information. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will be praying for you and your family.
{Megan}
Response:If you have met with your friends in that way, you have already given them your loving goodbyes. Nothing more is necessary. If you do have this gift, you will find a place for it in your life, but perhaps not at age seventeen.
Hi, my name is Annabelle and I recently read your book "Who Killed My Daughter" and am awaiting "The Tally Keeper." I live in Canada, and you're probably wondering why I am interested in Kaitlyn's murder... well I'm not sure myself, except that when I read this book for English class the case dug claws into my heart and ever since I've been onto many different websites that deal with Kaitlyn's murder. I'm only 16, and I don't know if what I am doing can make a difference, and even if this sounds a little silly...perhaps maybe you could contact the A&E Cold Case Files (even though they only do solved cold cases) or even have America's Most Wanted run a piece about Kaitlyn's murder and see what tips come in. I'm really sorry about your loss, and I really hope you get Kait's real murderers. I wish there was more I could do to help, but I'm not really an investigator or anything.
Good luck with everything, and take care,
Love, Anna -xoxo-
(Sporty_babe35@hotmail.com)
Response:Thank you, Anna. For the moment we are holding off on further publicizing the case because the APD Cold Case Squad appears to be working on it. If that falls through, then yours is an excellent suggestion.
Hi.
I have just read ur book.
And now I have some question.
1: What have happend since u wrote the book?
2: What are ur family doing today?
3: What is Dung doing today?
Hope you will get a solution on what happend that day.
Sorry my spelling I am from Sweden.
From Andreas
Response:I'd forgotten that the book was also published in Swedish. The best way to learn what's happened since the book was published is to read the information on this web site.
I was wondering if the new detectives that re-opened kaits case have gotten in touch with you reguarding her case yet?
Response:He hasn't contacted us but has met with our private investigator.
Dear Mrs. Arquette, and family->
Hello...iam a female sophomore in high school and i have just finished reading your book, Who killed my daughter? Yesterday in fact. It took me a while, but i didnt want it to be over. When it finally was, I was kind of sad. I really enjoyed this book. It really opened my eyes, on what kind of people you should trust. The book had to be probably the best book I have EVER read. I might even read it over and over again. I'am really sorry about your loss. And i think its kind of ludocris the killer still remains annyomous. I also think that it's pretty sorry the police didnt follow up on the story, its kind of like they didnt even care. Well they should have just put themselves in you and your familys position. But anyway thank you for writing hte book, i really enjoyed it.
Response:Thank you for caring.
Happy Belated Birthday, Kait.
Response:Yes, she would be 34 years old now. If her life had unfolded as she planned she would be a doctor, be married, have four children, and live in Corrales, New Mexico, so they could have horses.
Ms Duncan,
I remember reading your books long ago. With your national exposure, I would contact A&E's Cold Case division and see if they will re-create and help you solve it.
Response:That's an interesting thought. I'll look into that possibility.
Hello,
I am glad to see you have an honest investigator and I hope he can find out who murdered Kait. I was reading some of the previous messages and I think that's so interesting Sharon's canceled check was found in the rubble. I never thought she may have been involved but now it seems like a possibilty. I look forward to reading the Tally Keeper when it's finished. I know I suggested E! Hollywood True Story in the past but now I think maybe this case can be aired on Dateline, 20/20, and/or 48 Hours on CBS. If there is anything again I can do to help, I will. I just wish I had some information but I was only 8 years old when Kait was killed:(
Take care,
Rachel S.
rachels1999@hotmail.com
P.S. Happy birthday Kait, wherever you may be.
Response:For those who didn't read the article in the Albuqueque Tribune, the automotive chop shop at 824 Arno NE, (a hangout for rogue cops, where drugs were sold, and the place where the VW bug was seen trying to take refuge after it fled the scene of the shooting) recently burned down. After the fire, a class of student investigators got permission to search the rubble. They found a cancelled check made out to Sharon ("Susan" in my book), the new girlfriend in whose home Kait spent her final evening. We have no idea what the significance of this may be.
Some info on Noah Robinson:
Before his conviction for murder-for-hire, Noah Robinson, who was dividing his time between Chicago and Albuquerque, was involved with the Blackstone Rangers, at that time the biggest the most violent street gang in Chicago. That brought him a lot of business and made him rich.
His home was on Sanda Heights Drive NE. The psychic Noreen Renier said that, if you drew a clock around where Kait was found, the house where she saw a VIP doing drugs would be at about 2:00-2:30. That could put it on Sandia Heights Drive.
Pretty weird stuff.
Is Noah Robinson still alive? This might sound a little naive, but
couldn't you maybe contact someone like Larry Barker and ask him to interview Mr. Robinson and ask him about the people that frequented his house here in Albuquerque? Larry Barker was interested in all the
political VIP's who were involved with drugs, maybe he could help.
{L.G.}
Response:To the best of our knowledge, Noah Robinson is in prison in Illinois, serving time for hiring somebody to murder a witness. Even if he were free and living in Albuqueque, he would not be likely to snitch on his VIP friends in the drug trade.
Im not sure what happened i live in Hawaii but i was intrested in reading this because my last name is also Arquette and well i guess im just a dork but maybe we are related?
Response:Maybe we are. Stranger things have happened. Although, as far as I know, we have no relatives in Hawaii.
Dear Lois-Do you feel that the house you found that resembled a "desert castle" is the right house? There is this other house in Alb. that really looks like a castle and I've been trying to find it and take a picture of it for you. A friend of mine showed it to me a few years ago and I can't remember exactly where it is. I remember that it is not as far up as the mountains, but it is in the NE heights. I'm not friends with the person who showed me the house anymore so I'm trying to find it on my own. Wish me luck.
{L.G.}
Response:No, we haven't identified the house for certain. A reading by a psychic can't be considered evidence.
Several people have contacted us about a building in Albuquerque that physically resembles a castle, but it doesn't seem to be in the right location.
Another tipster has told us that, at the time of Kait's murder, Noah Robinson, Jesse Jackson's half-brother, owned a mansion in Sandia Heights which was a party place for political VIPS. That was during the time Jesse Jackson was campaigning for president. Noah Robinson has since been convicted of murder-for-hire, drug trafficking and racketeering. If anybody has information about that situation, particularly the identities of the NM VIPs that Noah Robinson partied with, please, either post that information or send us a private e-mail.
I was re-reading WKMD recently, and I have a question about the Good Man Who Is Afraid. Have you ever found out who he is (you don't have to give it out if you do know)? Has he given more tips? Anything else about him?
Hard to believe it's been 15 years now. Just about half my lifetime! Kaitlyn graduated from high school two years before I did.
[From: Alexandra]
Response:It's possoble that one of the many good people who have contacted us anonymously with valid information may be that same man. But there's no way to know for certain.
Because they know that the answer to such a question would be, "No comment." And, from then on, their publication would not receive press releases or be allowed interviews with Judge Brennan or any of his VIP friends. That reporter would lose his/her job and be blackballed for all eternity.
Isn't there at least one ambitious reporter/journalist curious enough
to get to the bottom of this story? You would think someone would have stuck a microphone in Judge Brennan's face and said"Where do you score your drugs from You Honor?
{L. Garcia}
On the subject of a cover-up in order to protect others, Chief Judge John Brennan in Albuquerque, who was arrested in May, 2004, for drunk driving, evading arrest, and cocaine possession, and the lady friend he was with that night have both entered guilty pleas. By doing that, they have avoided the public process of being indicted either by a grand jury or through a preliminary hearing and will not have to go to trial.
Because they won't be formally arraigned or brought to trial, they will never be forced to disclose what happened before Brennan's white SUV was snared at the DWI checkpoint. In other words, the identities of all the other judicial and political VIPs, who were partying with Brennan and his girlfriend that night, are protected.
This is a clever maneuver. It's completely legal. And it makes me want to vomit.
Judge Brennan got a slap on the wrist. He will serve the mandatory two-day jail sentence for the aggravated DWI but will be allowed to do so under the Community Custody Program, which allows him to remain free but wear an ankle monitor. Then he'll serve a year of unsupervised probation.
His longtime friends in NM drug trade, who -- it has recently been discovered -- include other judges, lawyers, political figures, sports celebrities, prominent businessmen, and members of the NM state legislature, are protected from exposure. They're probably laughing their heads off because they feel untouchable. With good reason.
This is why law enforcement and those in high level positions feel they can get away with anything. They can.
In many such cases it's not that the police are incapable of putting the pieces together, it's that they don't want to. Because once the pieces go together a picture will form that implicates fellow police officers or somebody else they are protecting.
That appears to be what has happened with the Kaitlyn Arquette case, along with many other NM cases, such as Melanie McCracken, Stephanie Houston, Stephen Haar, Peter Klunck, Ramona Duran, Sal Martinez, Gabino Venegas, Troy Pino, etc.
Response:In some of those cases that may well be true.
I HAVE READ A LOT OF THESE STORYS AND AM SHOOKED AT THE POLICE IN MOST OF THESE CASES . IT SICKENS ME TO THINK THAT THE PUBLIC CAN VERTUALLY SOLVE THESE CASES THEM SELVES BY PUTTING BITS AND PIECES TOGHER SO WHY CANT THE POLICE,,, WHY DO WE PAY OUR TAX'S IF THEY ARENT DOING THEIR JOBS.
(part 2 to the post below)
Another question that I have, now that I've read WKMD? so many times:
There is a reproduction of a newspaper article 7/21/89 pages 39-40 where Dung says: "...she never came home. Nobody told me nothing... The police came to the door and asked my whereabouts..." The part that made me do a double take was: "I went down there, but she had already been taken to the hospital."
Why would he go to the accident scene BEFORE (or instead of) going straight to the hospital?!
And has anyone interviewed the man who saw Kait's car being chased?
Response:You have put your finger on something very important. According to the police report, APD went to Kait and Dung's apartment at 3 a.m. and woke Dung up to tell him about the shooting. The report ends with the statement, "Officers left the apartment, leaving Dung Nguyen in the apartment. Mr. Nguyen said he would be leaving the apartment shortly to go to the hospital."
But he DIDN'T go straight to the hospital. He and two carloads of his friends, (it's 4 a.m., and they're apparently all dressed and ready to go), drove RIGHT PAST THE HOSPITAL and went to the crime scene to see what was going on there.
How did they know where it was? The police told Dung that Kait was in the hospital, they didn't tell him the location of the shooting.
In answer to your second question, yes, our private investigator interviewed the man who saw a car that resembled Kait's being chased. That event occurred around 9:30 p.m. Kait didn't leave Sharon's house until 10:30 p.m. Sharon told police that Kait got to her house at 9:30. So what the witness saw -- if he really did see it -- was Kait being chased and terrorized ON HER WAY TO SHARON'S HOUSE. It would seem that Kait was chased twice that evening, and the second time she didn't get away.
I just bought my 3rd copy of "Who Killed My Daughter?" and this is my 5th time reading through it. (the other 2 copies were lent to friends and never returned.) I keep looking for something that I missed the first few times. It was the part about the VW Bug (page 308 in paperback) following Kait & the rear-end damage to her car (posted here, I believe).
Is it possible that the VW followed her, turned off, and then doubled back? (They may have driven past Sharon's house while she & Kait were visiting, and seen that the end of the street was under construction, so they knew her exit route.)
One car rear-ended her (ironic, considering the insurance scam accidents were done this way) and pushed her into the pole, then both cars boxed her in so she couldn't get away easily?
Also, a note to those who will post; PLEASE, do NOT post your real-life address and/or phone number! Not everyone who follows this board is reputable & law-abiding, and it opens you up to all manner of harassment and/or stalking.
There will come a day when the people who know what happened will have to answer to a higher power than law enforcement. Their punishment will be worse than anything a court of law can devise.
Response:What you suggest is a very possible scenario. And the fact that no casings were found appears to indicate that somebody cleaned up the scene before investigators arrived. Even more bewildering is the fact that, although there was a large bullet hole in the car doorframe, no bullet was found in the car. And allegedly, although there were no exit wounds, no bullets were found in Kait's body. So no ballistics tests could be done.
You are right about people not posting their addresses or phone numbers. If they wish to communicate with us directly, they can send us a personal e-mail.
I have a question for Mike Corwin.
Hello, Mike, this is Roberta. I would like to say that I am very happy that you will represent the victims. I will sure vote for you. The victims and their families everyday live in fear of their elected officials.
Can you let us know if there is anyone else in the democratic party who will help the victims? Is there anyway we can get the police and elected officials to help root corruption out of Government? God bless you Mike!
Response:MIKE CORWIN RESPONDS:
Roberta,
I really appreciate your support. Yes, there are other democrats willing to support victim's rights. In the State House, where I'm running to be elected, Mimi Stewart and Danice Picraux have carried the victim's rights torch. They have fought the old boy network and changed New Mexico's laws on domestic violence. Were it not for them, there would be no statute against domestic violence, cops would still be arresting the victim along with the batterer and handing the victim a form to sign to get her not to prosecute. Further, batterers would be released from jail without notification to the victim or without providing the victim with enough time to secure a restraining order and seek help from a woman's shelter. These changes have all been accomplished within the past nine years.
This is a critical first step, since men in New Mexico kill their wives and girlfriends at a rate 85% greater than the national average. But more needs to be done so that all murders are investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and that victims will no longer be treated as criminals and criminals as victims.
I have talked to quite a few people in the legislature and they are aware of the press conference held recently by Kait Arquette's parents and 22 other New Mexico families whose loved ones' homicides were mishandled by law enforcement and of the important and hard work that those families have done . Mindsets are being changed. But we all need to keep the pressure on by refusing to accept things as they are. Most important of all is to remember that those in the government work "for the people" and those that forget that fundamental law of our land need to be held accountable.
Michael Corwin,Democratic Candidate for the NM House of Representatives, District 13
FROM THE ARQUETTE FAMILY: As we stated several posts down, our family and many other New Mexico crime victims are sponsoring Albuquerque private investigator Michael Corwin as the Democratic candidate for the New Mexico House of Representatives, District 31 in Albuqueque. Mike is running on a theme of victims' rights and rooting corruption out of government.
If any of you have questions for Mike Corwin, please, post them here. He has agreed to respond to them on this message board.
Please forward to Ms. Duncan.
My daughter and I have read Kaitlyns story many, many times. We lost my 3 year old granddaughter Amelia Rose Jones on 8/10/04 due to a Glioblastoma Multiforme grade IV tumor. This type of tumor normally hits 30 year old males but our baby girl got one. No pryor symptons, she just collapsed on 6/28/04, was air lifted to Childrens Hospital Denver, had surgery to remove the tumor on 7/5. Amelia was released on 7/14 to receive radiation and kemo treatments at UNMH. We never got to start the treatments due to the tumor coming back bigger then ever. She was admitted to UNMH on 7/26 where the doctor's told us she was terminal. We brought her home on 7/30 so that she could spend the last few days of her life at home. Amelia passed on 8/10 in the presence of all her family. In Amelia's 40 months, 3 days and 35 minutes she touched so many people's lives. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives.
Now to why I'm want you to forward this to Ms. Duncan: Amelia is buried at Sunset Memorial Park the same place as Kaitlyn. We visit Amelia every day and on Saturday we asked the office where Kaitlyn was resting. We went to visit her and cleaned up around her head stone. We also left a rose and sunflower in her vase. Please let Ms. Duncan know we will keep visiting her daughter when we visit Amelia and we will make sure we put a pumpking on Kaitlyn's grave every Halloweeen since that was her favorite holiday.
If you wish to see what our Amelia looks like, please visit her care page. go to tlcontact.com go to the care page, type in ameilajones (all one word) set up a member profile and password or feel free to use mine. molapee is my user name and amelia is my pass word.
Please let Ms. Duncan know we think of Kaitlyn all the time and await the arrest of her killer(s).
Sincerly,

Response:My heart breaks for all of you for the loss of this beloved little girl. I've visited her web site, and she was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for visiting Kait's grave. That means a lot to us. We no longer live in Albuquerque, but each time we go back there, the first thing we do is take her flowers. Sometimes we find that she already HAS flowers, and that makes us feel very good, because it means that others still remember her and visit her resting place. Other times we find notes to Kait that have been left in the vase. We keep hoping that one time we're going to look in that vase and find a note with informatino about her death.
i am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. i found your sight when i typed in my daughter's name. i hope you find justice soon . you and your family are in my prayers.[From:Kelndeb2000@hotmail.com]
Response:Thank you for caring.
Tara Calico went missing in New Mexico on Sept. 20, 1988. You'll find her story at www.abqtrib.com/archives/news03/091903_news_tara.shtml.
I was just reading your message board, and Im kind of lost, I am wondering who is Tara Calico? And what is her story? I've tried to find information about her case online, with no luck. I'd appreciate it. Thanks for your time.
{From DTB} Does anyone think there is a link between this and the Calico case, just was wondering out of curiosity?
Response:We have heard rumors that there may be a possible connection between the Tara Calico missing persons case and the Melanie McCracken suspicious death case. But we have no reason to suspect a link between Tara's disappearance and Kait's murder. If anybody knows of any connection between those cases, please, get in touch with us.
I just wanted to say that I just recently read Who killed my Daughter. I found teh book to be amazingly well written. I have always been a fan of Lois Duncans work and only found out about this dark chapter in here life when I put in a search for her books on Amazon. I couldnt put the book down, I felt like i was right there with the family, wanting desperately to find answers to what happened and why it happened. I am appalled to read that after 15 yrs this case is still unsolved, despite the efforts and investigations by the Arquette family. The Police and other authorities involved in teh investigation of this case should be deeply ashamed of themselves for not following up the staggering evidence uncovered by this amazingly strong family. I just want to give my support and love to the Arquettes and will keep checking on the progress of the case. I am very interested to read Lois' follow up to Who Killed My Daughter. Is there a date at all known for when this will be published at all?
Response:Thank you for your support. No, there is no date set for publication, because I continue to keep adding new chapters. The recent exposure of major drug activity involving political VIPs in New Mexico extending back to the time of Kait's murder will be a chapter in itself.
hi my name is sandra jackson. i have been reading your book "who killed my daughter?" . has any new info been uncovered about her murder? i really feel your pain. i cried when i read the book. kaitlyn would be about 34 years old now , is that right? please e-mail me back. thanks sandra
Response:It's hard to imagine but -- yes, she would be 34 years old. If her dreams had had a chance to materialize, she would be a practicing physician, married with four children, and a home in Corrales where she could have horses.
I'm the person who wrote you about my friend's killer being caught after 16 years. No, an eyewitness did not come forward because actually it was completely established that this man was at my friend's house that morning. He was SEEN coming out. This was one of those cases where everyone eally knew who did it all along but it could not be "proven". Because of this, the guy ran free all these years thinking that he would never be caught. One night about a year before the case went to court, a person called the police and told them that this man Steven Michalewicz (the killer, who lived in Temple, Texas) had been drunk in a bar and was talking about a murder that he had gotten away with in Austin, Texas many years ago. The police finally decided that this case was worthy of being investigated by their newly established Cold Case Unit. In addition, we now had the more advanced DNA techniques on our side. In my friend's house, there was an abundance of her blood but only ONE spot of his which at the time they could not say with certainty that it was his. He claimed to have nicked his finger while cleaning his nails with a pocket knife. He never denied being at her house as it was clear that he took her home that night and was seen leaving. Because of this, or course, the fact that his fingerprints were there didn't matter. His prints were even on a chinese decoration that perfectly matched the bruise on her face where she was hit. His story was that she was alive and well when he left. There was only a 30-40 minute window between him leaving and my friend's roommate coming home and finding her body. The entire time between her murder and the case, pressure was continously put on the police department but they would not agree to bring it to trial because they didn't think that they would win. Luckily, for Debra Lynn Guess and all of her family and friends-her killer got too drunk and raised the eyebrows of the police. That and DNA technology, thank God. Again, this happened in Austin, Texas on Feb. 22, 1988. I continue to pray for justice for you and your family.
Toni M. Flores
Response:Thank you for sharing that story. It will give hope to many people.
FROM THE ARQUETTE FAMILY:
Michael Corwin, the private investigator for numerous cases on our Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com, (Melanie McCracken, Stephanie Houston, Crystal Houston, Troy Pino and Gabino Gallegos)is running on the Democratic ticket for New Mexico House Representative, District 31, in Albuquerque. He is running on a theme of victims' rights and rooting corruption out of government. Needless to say, he has our total support.
Mike's opponent, Greg Payne, had warrants out for his arrest for 15 months during his only term on the city council, as well as three ethics complaints. He has been arrested for domestic violence and for violating a restraining order and has been sued three times by his landlord for non-payment of rent. This is not a person who will be helpful to crime victims.
If you aren't eligible to vote in District 31, (north of Montgomery, east of Eubank, up to the county line, with the exception of Tanoan) but would still like to support Mike's campaign, contributions can be made to:
Citizens to Elect Michael Corwin

Even if you're Republican, you might consider stepping outside the box in this one instance. New Mexico crime victims need all the help they can get.
I recently read Who Killed My Daughter? and was shock and appalled by the police investigation. It seems you have extensive help already. I currently work with law enforcement and would be willing to assist in any way. Please let me know if I can help - Dorothy Stout
Response:Thank you, Dorothy. Please, contact us by personal e-mail and let us know where you are and what position you hold. ANYBODY who works with law enforcement and is willing to assist us, if only in an advisory role, will be welcomed with open arms.
I read your book years ago when it first came out and I've been checking this site regularly ever since I discovered it, hoping and praying for resolution for your family. What a joy it was to read that the Cold Case Squad has been re-established and that Kait's case will be reopened! This is truly hopeful news. I pray that your family's persistence will continue to pay off and that justice will be served for Kait.
Maria in Kentucky
Response:We pray so too. To date, the cold case detective has not gotten in touch with us or with our private investigator. We hope he will do so soon.
I, like many others, read your book years ago and periodically check your website for updates. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY happy to read that the case is going to be investigated once again. I just wanted to tell you how much over the years that I have admired you and your family's strength, persistence and courage to find out the truth about your beloved daughter's death and bring her killers to justice. I had a friend who was murdered in Feb. of 1988. Her killer was free for 16 years!! He was from a wealthy family who could afford the best lawyers and since he killed my friend, he has been the ideal citizen-not so much as a speeding ticket! He has since married, had two children and "found God" or so he claimed. But, the point I'm trying to make is that he was FINALLY brought to justice this past Oct. 2003 and is now serving a 99 year sentence. Of course, we thought that we would never see the day that justice would be served. Through these years, I have admired you and your dedication to find justice for Kaitlyn..........you helped me hang on and keep faith when I thought that I didn't have any left. I sincerely hope that the person or persons responsible will be caught and that you too can have some closure and justice as well. You are in my thoughts and prayers always.
Response:I would be very interested in knowing the procedure that got your friend's killer convicted so many years later. Did an eywitness come forward? Was there DNA evidence? In what state did this take place? What caused the police to reactivate the case?
This kind of story makes my heart beat faster.
I read your book in 8th grade and when i read it, i must admit i was a bit confused. Recently, i beagn to think about the book again and I bacame interested to see if there have been any recent leads. I think what the police have done to you is just horrible and you have every right to know the facts about your daughters case.
I have a friend whose sister was killed in a hit and run accident, and i must say not knowing who killed her for week drived me insane, so I must say that your family must have an enormous amount of strength to keep going and keep fighting for 15 years. I hope that you catch the guys that did this and my prayers are with you and your family.
Love always,
Cindy
P.S. When is the book Tally Keeper coming out?
Response:I'm so sorry about your friend's sister.
The Tally Keeper hasn't yet been scheduled for publication because I haven't finished writing it. New events continue to take place, such as the exposure of a long-hidden narcotics report that identifies the political VIPs who were involved in New Mexico drug trade at the time of Kait's murder. This appears to be exactly what the psychics described as the motive for Kait's murder. I want to put that in The Tally Keeper, and I'm sure it will lead to something even more startling. Maybe Kait's story will even have a real ending.
I just finished your book and thought about this case when reading your update page.
As an insurance professional I would like to say that insurance companies attempt to do all they can to investigate fraud. When a case is investigated and evidence is found, it is immediately turned over to the DA’s office of whatever area the crime occurred in. Mostly, these are cases that are put on the back burner. I understand your frustration with the system.
I wondered if you had contacted Homeland Security about this situation. It appears APD is either grossly negligent in their duties, or are actively not investigating these cases that have to do with the Vietnamese Mafia. I would think that the murder of Americans from a source inside the country, which is organized, and is “terrorizing” witnesses, would fall right on the doorstep of Homeland Security.
Just a thought.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
Tom Johnson, and Family
Response:It's a good thought, and we will follow up on it. Thank you.
Sorry no leads. Im sure im going to tell you the same things you have heard a trillion times, God bless you and your family, I know it has been a long time since the murder of your baby girl but she will always be yours and she will always be in your heart. I truely feel for you and I have read who killed my daughter 2 times now. I hope you can find who did this to your child and know pple are still reading your book and are still praying for you. you had a good daughter, not a drug addict, not a prostitute, not a bad person just a girl like all other girls her age (at the time) very trusting and naive, I remember those days and cant belive some of the things I did. God bless you.
Response:Most young people feel invinceable. In books and in movies, the young hero/heroine risks his or her life but always comes through fine. I think Kait believed she was going to do just that, and become a heroine in the process. Sadly, it didn't work out that way.
FROM THE ARQUETTE FAMILY: We appreciate the ideas people have been coming up about the identity of the VIP in the second sketch. But we think it might be best not to post their names on this message board. Please, send them to us by private e-mail.
Many thanks.
"To respond to your question about the first officer at the scene, he was far from a newby -- he was a violent crimes detective. One would expect him to notice that the driver's window was shot out, that there was a bullet hole in the car door frame, and that the victim had two bullet holes in her head."
Now, What was a seasoned violent crime detective doing first on the scene? Hmmm Yes he would have known it was a hit.
I'm wondering what Kait saw at he desert castle, or heard. Just a drug transaction?
1. If it was just a drug transaction, no matter who was involved that could easily be squashed if reported, no evidence and she would have been a questionable source of information at best if she did report it. She would have to have planned to go outside APD and report it.
2. Did she see or hear about a murder or hit? Or something else involving someone that had a lucrative career?
3. Was she first shot by the killers in the car, then someone else finish the job, walk up to the car and open the door and shoot her or did the original hit man walk up to the car and shoot her a second time?
Response:If you visit our Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com, you will discover that in a number of Albuquerque cases, (Peter Klunck, Ramona Duran, Stephen Haar, etc.) the victims were killed immediately after telling people that they feared for their lives because they had knowledge about VIPs involved in the NM drug scene.
Your speculation about two separate individuals firing at Kait is one that we are considering also. The bullet hole in the car door frame looks to be large caliber, while the bullets that entered her head were such small caliber that they shattered and were never found. OMI speculates that they were probably. 22 caliber.
One possibility is that one person fired a shot while Kait was driving, striking the doorframe and causing her to panic and lose control of her car. Then, when it came to rest against the utility pole, somebody else aproached on foot and shot her in the head with a different gun.
I READ IT! MY GOD, IT'S EXACTLY WHAT ALL FOUR PSYCHICS IN YOUR BOOK DESCRIBED! I'VE NEVER BELIEVED IN PSYCHICS BUT AFTER READING ABOUT JUDGE BRENNER AND HIS VIP FRIENDS IN NM DRUG TRADE I'VE BECOME A BELIEVER. WHAT WE NEED TO FIGURE OUT NOW IS WHERE THE DESERT CASTLE IS OR WAS AT THAT TIME AND WHO OWNED IT AND WHO HUNG OUT THERE IN 1989.
IS THERE ANY WAY TO SEE THE SKETCH THE POLICE ARTIST DREW FROM WHAT NOREEN DESCRIBED TO HIM IN A TRANCE? THE ONE OF THE POLITICAL BIGWIG KAIT SAW BUYING DRUGS? THAT PICTURE WASN'T IN YOUR BOOK. WHY NOT?
Response:My publishers would not permit me to include the sketch in the book. They were afraid tht if it turned out to closely resemble a member of the NM state legislature, we would be sued.
However, a small rendition of that picture slid past them. In the photo of me with psychic Noreen Renier, (pg. 291 in the paperback edition; pg. 244 in the hardcover edition), I am holding a copy of that sketch. I anybody wants to see a larger rendition of it, send me an e-mail and I'll send it as a JPG attachment.
Remember, this is how the VIP allegedly looked when Kait saw him in 1989. He's now aged 15 years. He may be gray, have facial hair, gotten jowly (the sketch suggests the beginning of a double chin). He may even be dead. Or he may not exist at all, since this is psychic information and hasn't been verified. Also, Noreen commented that the police artist "always makes people look too pretty."
FROM THE ARQUETTE FAMILY:
Go to the Real Crimes web site at www.realcrimes.com. On the blurb, introducing the Kaitlyn Arquette case, click on "Update, July 16, 2004: APD Cold Case Squad Reopen's Kait's Case." It took 15 years of struggle to get that to happen! We pray that the new and honest Cold Case detective is permitted to do the job that everyone else has fallen down on.
Some questions for Lois & Don:
How did Kait meet Sharon Smith?
Did Sharon know Dung and/or any of his friends?
I ask, because I'm slightly confused about Sharon's connection to Kait's death, past Sharon's house being the starting point of Kait's final journey.
I had read in one of the posts that Kait was "set up" by a phony girlfriend who made sure that she was on Lomas that night. I arrived at the conclusion that the "phony girlfriend" was Sharon, since it was her map that the police found in Kait's car.
In my mind, if Sharon & Kait had been friends from high school or had met in one of Kait's classes at UNM, she wouldn't have done something like that. On the other hand, if Kait had been introduced to Sharon through Dung's friends, then all bets are off, in my opinion. Have you been in touch with Sharon and heard her side of the story?
I also just read the article about the Cold Case squad reopening the case -- I HOPE THIS HAPPENS! The only thing that worries me is if the cold case detectives have a complete file -- I recall reading that there were elements that were not in the case file.
Hang in there. Like you said, Lois, lost people find God, frightened people gain courage. I keep you and your family in my prayers. I'm sure Kait is very proud of you, wherever her spirit may be.
Response:Sharon sold snow cones in Fair Plaza, outside of Pier One Imports where Kait was clothing manager. They met when Kait bought a cone during one of her work breaks. The night of the shooting was the first time Kait had ever been to Sharon's home. Sharon gave her written directions describing how to get there.
Yes, Sharon knew Dung, but allegedly met him through Kait.
Sharon left New Mexico soon after the Albq. Journal ran a huge expose' article about the Vietnamese car wreck scam. She got in touch with us after my book came out to tell us that most of what she was quoted as saying in police reports was not true.
No, the Cold Case detective does not have a complete case file, and certain information that is in the case file is not accurate. For instance, police reports state that no evidence hold was placed on Kait's car and it was towed directly from the scene to the salvage yard. We've since learned that police DID do a second-day work-up on that car, but photos and reports of what they found have been withheld from Kait's case file.
Just read where the Cold Case Squad has reopened Kait's case. My thoughts & prayers are now more then ever for Kait & her family. I'm hoping the new look at the case will finally bring justice. Stay strong & keep fighting for the truth.
Response:We're praying that Cold Case Detective Don Roberts will turn out to be the champion we've been searching for.
Wasn't Sharon Smith the person Kaitlyn had dinner with the night she
was murdered? Do you now believe she was somehow involved with what
happened?
{D.L. Garcia}
Response:We have reason to believe that Sharon may know more than she admits to.
Will there be any new excerpts from "The Tally Keeper"?
Response:I hadn't thought about that. I guess I SHOULD add further excerpts.
I read "Who Killed My Daughter?" when it first came out, and I have followed the updates and postings on the website, like so many others. Two things occured to me as I read the postings over the past several months. First, you have truly made Kait's life and her murder have meaning and impact far beyond what anyone would have imagined. Your new initiatives to change the way "justice" is done in NM will (we all pray) make it far more difficult for other murders to be officially sanctioned and covered up.
It is also heart-warning to see how many young readers have been moved by Kait's story and yours--and how many of them will grow up understanding that the government doesn't always protect us, tell the truth, do the right thing. You have been a powerful teacher for them.
May God bless you and your efforts, as well as your lovely girl on the other side.
Response:That's a wonderful thing to tell me. Thank you.
Dear Lois,
I'm a secondary school librarian and a graduate of Highland High in Albuquerque. I was first introduced to your "Killing Mr. Griffin" via a junior high male reader before I became a librarian. He was really enjoying the book, so I read it, and identified with the setting, of course, and also enjoyed the story itself. I've worked in Texas, and that's where I first read "Who Killed My Daughter"--after finding this web site to which you referred when protesting the content of the movie "I Know What You Did..." in School Library Journal. I've bought the book for three libraries now, and referred readers to it and to this web site. I'm currently working in NW New Mexico. I've traveled to Albuquerque and scoped out the site of the crime scene. I've talked to friends who are NM police chiefs. I've sent kids and adults to this web site. I guess all this sums up to say that you and your situation have become part of my life. I would love for there to be some resolution to your quest, and now that others have added their disappointments with NM police crime investigations to yours, I'd like to see some changes in the tactics of those we trust to find truth. Maybe if we all keep a "burr under their saddle" something productive will eventually result. May you find some peace in your life. Thanks for the many ways you've added intriguing moments to mine. [From: ksl]
Response:And our thanks to YOU for all you are doing to help keep Kait's case from becoming buried and forgotten.
I hope the murderer will be discovered.
Response:Perhaps the new Cold Case Squad will be able to accomplish that.
This is my opinion, after finishing the book.
The APD had the right suspects in custody, the trigger or hit men.
It was a hit, Dung knows everything about the case, and who called the hit and who carried it out.
His wound was not self inflicted but happened in an altercation.
The first officer on the scene that thought it was a car accident...He could have sincerely believed, initially that it was an accident. How experienced was this officer?
It could be possible that initially the hit was supposed to look like an accident, that they tried to have her wreck the vehicle, but failing then executed her, just a theory.
The person (Bao Tran) called immediately after the murder...from her apt., and the one setting up the insurance fraud accidents, probably called the hit and arranged it. I also feel the hit was initially called before the fatal night when she went to the Desert castle, whatever transpired there probably just moved it up to immediate action, I feel that An Le was involved in the planning of the hit, BEFORE the night she was murdered, I feel Dung knew about the possibility of the hit. I feel whatever Kait saw , whatever transpired that night moved it up, calls were made and it was carried out, I feel the so called friend she went to visit was part of the set up. There were more murders or hits.
The APD didn't know about the garage and all the illegal activity transpiring there? Why was no interference or busts made? It appears these gangs are well protected, no busts, no arrests, no knowledge of all these illegal activities?
The investigation was stopped and suspects released? I feel they were indeed the killers, the hit men, and a connection could have been made by the police to the Vietnamese gang that called the hit, but was intentionally not pursued, and when Kait's parents were not satisfied with a partial investigation, because they knew the Vietnamese were involved, and the police and DA couldn't just settle the case with the hit men, it was scrapped? Instead of following up on the leads and connections and information from the defence teams PI's that confirmed Kaits parents beliefs of the Vietnamese involvement? That whole community should be out raged, it could be anyone's child, it could be anyone that could be the next victim.
And more victims there will be, for life has no value, no meaning, to the conscienceless killers of a gang, they dispense of life like a used kleenex with no remorse or thought to continue their criminal activities, and no one is immune should they have the misfortune to cross the path or even by accident enter the world or be a witness to these sociopaths evil deeds. I still hope one day this crime will be solved and justice will prevail, and it isn't uncommon for gangs to be involved in the occult, I don't know what Kait saw or knew in addition to the drugs and insurance scams that night at the Desert Castle, but it was someone or something with a lot of power, that the gang did not want revealed, and wanted kept hidden, but someone knows the truth and maybe one day they will come forward.
Incredible that NONE of the leads to the Vietnamese were followed up.
How high up does the corruption go?
It is very sad and alarming that a murder with so many clues just gets closed as if Kait never existed, and a quick solution to get it out of the media and get it hushed up with damage control put in motion for the public. Where is the truth and justice?
Response:I like your thought process.
To respond to your question about the first officer at the scene, he was far from a newby -- he was a violent crimes detective. One would expect him to notice that the driver's window was shot out, that there was a bullet hole in the car door frame, and that the victim had two bullet holes in her head.
As for the auto body shop and all the illegal activity that transpired there -- that body shop was a well known hangout for police officers
