Tom's life was kept a secret by Bernie. Why? 		 
Question: Did Bernie make a web-site for Tom?
People who wanted to know more about the disappearance could have gone to the web-site for information.
Did she put flyers on poles in the surrounding areas?
Did she get any social network going at all?
In her video she could have shown the area and home of where he lived.
Show places he frequented.
She could have had events so people would know he was missing.
Hold an interview on the radio asking if anyone had seen him that day.
She could have let it be known that Tom was a real person so people could have searched for him or told information if they had it.

In the beginning she was not sure he was dead. Should she not have done everything she could to make sure that everyone knew he was missing? He could have gone on the road and left the area. So why didn't the information process?

The average family would keep their loved one alive any and every way they could. Why not Bernie and why not Bonnie and why not Sally?

Simply, why was the fact that Tom Stump lived kept a secret? What did they have to hide?

Question: Bill Becker searching for the body of Tom Stump every single weekend for months? Yet Bill Becker didn't put the word out for 1 full month that Tom was even missing. Did he want to be a hero and find Tom's remains to save the day for Tom's daughter? He keeps the Stump family away from the situation completely along with any contact with the children yet he, and he alone was searching.

And the way you have worded your post tells us that Bill Becker and Mark Ripin together did not and never had searched for Tom.

What large search did Bill Becker involve himself in? Can you elaborate for us please? We don't believe that he put himself with other in a huge search. Which one was he in and name 1 other person who was there besides you of course that you can name?

Searches 		 
Question: Bill and Mark participated in numerous searches following Tom's suicide. They searched individually, as well as with larger groups. Eventually, it was only Bill who was searching. For months afterwards, he spent nearly every weekend looking for Tom's body.

Call him and ask him. That's what I did. His number is in the phone book.

Question: So, when Bernie lived at the drug house with Mark, Bill Becker never knew Mark?
He only met Mark RIpin AFTER Tom disappeared?

Am I reading this right?

Please enlighten us on what times that Mark and Bill Becker together searched for Tom Stump?

Mark's relationship to Becker 		 
Question: "A consistently good friend for 23 years" does not sound as though Mark knew OF Bill Becker, it sounds like they hung out together all the time.

Also, if Mark arrived at the Stump residence 22 minutes after Bonnie called him, why does Bernie say he didn't come for days? If he was there within 22 minutes, where was he when the police arrived? Hiding in a closet?

The relationship between Mark, Bill and Bernie is pretty damned weird and they can't even get their stories together.

Question: That's news to Bill (I asked him).

Perhaps Mark knew OF Bill, since Bill has been well-known in the local community since the early 70's.

Bill says he only got to know Mark after Tom's suicide, when they were searching for the body.

Questions that will never be answered. But why? 		 
Question: I would like to know about Mark Ripin. Why if he was so influential overseas is he living in Key West? Bill Becker made such a big deal about all his worth over there and how wonderful Mark was yet he leaves it all behind as if it was nothing more than a hand full of dirt. Can the DTL tell us what is so important in Key West that he left his pedestal behind? To be closer to his daughter? To be closer to Bernie? He ran out of money? (Maybe it wasn't BIG enough?)

How close is Bernie to the Becker family?
She wrote in a letter to Rose that the Stumps treated the girls better than the Becker's do.
Could this be because they are smart and see through her bring their son downward?

It's a case of nature versus nurture 		 
Question: No one can control their genetic make-up. You play the hand you're dealt.
Family upbringing is much more important. Fortunately, Bernie was raised in a very close and loving family.
Tom, on the other hand, showed what can happen when that upbringing goes bad.

One reason for the lie. Tom wasn't left behind. 		 
Question: People who are left as a child and not wanted could also have a deep psychological problems. They live a lie and learn to accept that lie as truth. They are unwanted until they find someone who is wonderful enough to take them in. But the damage is internal. The lie of their life and the people accepting them telling them how loved they are just reinforces the lie in their mind. It doesn't computed because some can't ever get over Being left behind.

Tom wasn't beaten and for you to cry this foul play is ludicrous. As your love for your girlfriend's husband.

If Tom's daughter ever goes into a distraught state we can only hope that you and your gang will act very different than was done with the disappearance of a man called Tom Stump.

Tom's sad suicide 		 
Question: Suicide is so hard to deal with because to others, it seems like an unnatural death. Often for the person who attempts suicide, it seems the only thing to do. Sometimes there are signs, sometimes not. Tom may well have kept his pain closely guarded, so that no-one suspected anything was amiss. It is common for people to seem quite buoyant and happy just prior to commiting suicide, this is usually because they have made the decision and they feel a great sense of relief. In the end, there is really nothing that anyone can do to stop a person intent on committing suicide. Tom's friends and relatives need to be reassured of this.

A new clue to Tom's suicide 		 
Question: This was published recently in ScienceDaily:

"A team of McGill University scientists has discovered important differences between the brains of suicide victims and so-called normal brains. Although the genetic sequence was identical in the suicide and non-suicide brains, there were differences in their epigenetic marking – a chemical coating influenced by environmental factors.

All of the 13 suicide victims in the study had experienced abuse as children."


Considering the beatings Tom took while growing up in Ohio, this may be at least a partial explanation.

Suicide 		 
Question: Why would Tom willingly cause his own death? Mental health professionals who have been searching for years for an answer to that question generally agree that people who took their own lives felt trapped by what they saw as a hopeless situation. Whatever the reality, whatever the emotional support provided, they felt isolated and cut off from life, friendships, etc. Even if no physical illness was present suicide victims felt intense pain, anguish, and hopelessness. Tom likely wasn't choosing death as much as choosing to end his pain. Too bad he had to do it in such a cowardly way, hiding his body and delaying closure for the family.
